About Me

Hi! I'm Kristen and am a 22 year old recent college graduate from the University of Alabama. I graduated with a degree in Food and Nutrition. Over the past year, I completed the Coordinated Program in Dietetics. I completed 900 hours of supervised practice and 5 rotations at different hospitals and health departments in Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, and Cullman. I passed the Registered Dietitian exam this summer (!!!!), and I'm currently living in my hometown of Birmingham, AL. I am not exactly sure what the future will hold, but I am excited to see where life will take me!

I'm most passionate about nutrition, as it relates to education, wellness, and prevention. I also really love food. I'm a foodie in every sense of the word. I love cooking, trying new restaurants and interesting food, and sometimes I get more excited about going to Whole Foods or Trader Joe's than shopping for clothes.

Favorite Foods:
oatmeal, bananas, nut butter, pizza, gnocchi, risotto, pasta, sushi, salmon, crab cakes, goat cheese, sweet potatoes, squash, Brussels sprouts, pumpkin, avocado, peaches, spinach, apples, Greek yogurt, muffins, eggs, whole wheat pancakes, grilled cheese and tomato soup, broccoli, portabello mushrooms, macaroni and cheese, fish tacos, granola, berries, ice cream, dark chocolate, cupcakes, and cookies.

I love traveling! I studied abroad for a month in Florence, Italy last summer and it will always have a special place in my heart.

Other countries I've been to: Thailand, France, England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Mexico, Jamaica, Bahamas, Cayman Islands

I ran the Country Music Half-Marathon in Nashville this year. I ran cross country my senior of high school, but this was my first half-marathon. It was a personal goal I had for myself and was happy just to finish! I'm already planning on running the Disney Half-Marathon in January and the Seaside Half-Marathon in March. Guess you could say I'm addicted now! In addition to running, I love working out at the gym, biking, and yoga.

I have a wonderful family!

My dad and I went to the Father Daughter program at JH Ranch in Etna, California the summer after I graduated from high school.

My mom and I at the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She's my best friend!

I have a younger brother named Andrew. He goes to Auburn University and is going to be a pilot!

The whole family at the Rose Bowl for the National Championship game. Roll Tide!

I think that balance is the key to leading a healthy lifestyle. It may sound cliché, but I'm a firm believer in "all things in moderation." I mostly eat a pretty healthy diet with ample fruits and veggies. However, I am not one to turn down a glass of wine, the bread basket, or a good dessert!

"Moderation. Small helpings. Sample a little bit of everything. These are the secrets of happiness and good health."
-Julia Child

I have found that my healthy lifestyle helps me feel my best, gives me more energy, and makes me more self-confident. I hope my blog will inspire you to find a happy medium in all aspects of your life. Thanks for stopping by!
